Terms of service
The terms under which you may use MCTL. See /privacy for data handling and /security for the threat model.
What this service is
MCTL Assistant is an open-source MCP server that lets an AI assistant act on your behalf against your own Telegram user account. It is an unofficial third-party connector using the Telegram API (MTProto), so it works within the Telegram ecosystem, but it is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Telegram, OpenAI or Anthropic, and "Telegram", "ChatGPT" and "Claude" are trademarks of their respective owners.
Your account and your responsibility
- You connect your own Telegram account. You must have the right to use that account and to authorise this service to act through it.
- You are solely responsible for the messages, drafts, and actions performed through the service, and for complying with Telegram's own Terms of Service and any applicable law.
- You must not use the service to send spam, harass, impersonate, distribute malware, or for any unlawful or abusive purpose. Automated bulk messaging may violate Telegram's rules and can get your account limited or banned — that risk is yours.
- Your chats contain other people's messages. You may use what the service returns only to get help from your own AI assistant. You must not use it to train or fine-tune AI models, and must not pass it on beyond your own assistant. See AI use of your messages.
Sending messages
On the hosted deployment at tg.mctl.ai, a newly connected account is read-only by default: send_message and send_media return a preview (sent=false) and the other write tools refuse with an error, so nothing is delivered. Real delivery happens only when every gate is enabled: your account send_enabled flag (your explicit opt-in, either by choosing Read + send when you connect or later), the telegram:messages:send scope, and the operator-level ALLOW_SEND flag, which is on for tg.mctl.ai. Once those are enabled, the service will send real messages to real people on your behalf, and a sent message cannot be unsent. Enable sending only if you accept that.
Beta software, no warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Parts of it (including Local Bridge mode) are beta and may change or break. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator and contributors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including account limitations, lost or misdirected messages, or downtime.
Availability and changes
There is no uptime guarantee. The service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time. These terms may be updated; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. You can stop using the service at any time. To remove your data, call delete_telegram_account or the HTTP endpoints listed on /privacy from a connection granted account:manage; to disconnect without deleting, you can also use the manage page after signing in with Telegram.
